Ted Lasso Themed Party

Take inspiration from one of our favorite Apple+ TV shows and 'Believe' in a party idea that leaves you feeling warm and inspired.

Like many, we fell in love with the series Ted Lasso when we first encountered it. It was a odse of genuine hope, compassion, and humor in a dark time. When we discovered the show, it was three episodes in, and as soon as we binged them, we immediately began re-watching them - filled with laughter and inspired to be more hoeful.

Since then, we’ve avidly watched the team grow together, moving from a diverse but divided cast of characters to a heart-warming, welcoming family who values and battles for one another.   As the second season neared it’s close, we decided we needed a season finale party to watch the last episode.

DECOR

We found fantastic jerseys, posters, banners, mugs, stickers and more on Etsy. to help set the stage.  The dilemma was which stage to set because we could take the setting for the evening in many directions:

  • The pub near Ted and Beard’s flats (The Prince’s Head IRL)
  • Beard’s After Hours
  • Locker Room
  • Swanky Charity Auction from season 1
  • Karaoke Night
  • Keeley’s House, complete with pink furry pillows

We went with a pub feel where guests could deck themselves out in Richmond jerseys and scarves and drink from large glass wellies (boots).

MENU

THE MENU BORROWED HEAVILY FROM SEASON 2’S CHRISTMAS EPISODE, BUT WE DIDN’T STOP THERE:

  • Tea (aka garbage water)
  • Sparkling (and flat) water
  • Dani’s ponche
  • Fish & chips
  • Bar - B - Q ribs with sauce from KC
  • Sam’s jollaf rice (with our without goat)
  • Chicken Tikka Masala
  • Shortbread biscuits (in pink boxes, of course)
  • Scones (peach, chocolate & raspberry, blackberry & pistachio)
  • Jar of peanut butter
  • Cookie Cutter Biscuits in the shape of jerseys, mustaches, tea bags and believe signs (we wrote quotes and jersey numbers on with edible marker ink)

  • WATCHING GAMES -  EVERYONE TAKES A DRINK EVERY TIME ONE OF THE FOLLOWING HAPPENS:

  • BEARD AND TED SHARE AN INSIDE JOKE
  • TED ISSUES A LASSOISM: BELIEVE, BE A GOLDFISH, BE CURIOUS NOT JUDGMENTAL, ETC.
  • ROY GRUNTS
  • NATE CHECKS HIS INSTA
  • KEELY AND REBECCA HAVE A GOOD LAUGH TOGETHER
  • TRENT CRIMM MAKES AN APPEARANCE
  • TRIVIA GAMES - COMPETE TO KNOW WHO KNOWS THE SHOW BEST (E.G. READ OUT QUOTES FOR GUESTS TO GUESS WHO SAID THEM, ASK KEY FACTS ABOUT THE SHOWS PLOT AND/OR ACTORS AND WRITERS
  • HAVE EACH GUEST WRITE A NOTE FROM ‘TED’ TO ANOTHER GUEST
  • Darts

  • Cookie Decorating - make your own stache or jersey!

All around a fun and relaxing evening, even if we were ringing in the end of the season.  Who’s ready for season 3!?!
