Gaga for Gilmore Girls

Girls nights are always better Gilmore Girl themed party!

12 min read

When the Gilmore Girls rebooted a few years back, my girlfriends and I held a GG watch party with a menu that would clog the heart of an elephant. We ordered pizza and fries, Mexican and Chinese food, coffee and biscotti, and served it all alongside chips, cereal, and cookies.

I may also have stood in line at 6:00am outside a local coffee shop made over as ‘Luke’s Diner’ just for the experience.

Given my friend’ and I’s love of the show, we decided to throw another Gilmore Girls inspired party just because – who needs a reason to do more of what makes you happy?

We had a fantastic time re-watching episodes to inspire the party. If you are thinking of hosting a Gilmore kinda day, here are few ideas to help inspire you!

Donuts and candies

First up, we had to set the mood for the party, and Etsy had us covered. We found fantastic digital downloads to create banner’s, Luke’s sign and coffee holders, quote signs and more! We also found fantastic GG swag to sprinkle throughout, including t-shirts, earrings, mugs, and more.

MENU

We chose a blended menu of catered and scratch made treats to reflect the many palettes of the cast, from Emily and Sookies more refined tastes to Lorelai and Rory's catch as catch can simpler fare. (If you're a fan check out this cookbook that pays homage to the show.) The menu included a wide range of items, including:

A layout of food for our gilmore themed party
  • Cereal, cookies, and chips served in mini martini glasses
  • Donuts from Hurt’s Donuts (the cereal topped ones were perfect for the theme)
  • Chinese food
  • Deviled eggs
  • Bruschetta
  • Pizza & fries
  • Rum balls
  • Scones & biscotti
  • Pop tarts

And of course, we had to recreate the smorgasbord Lorelai and Rory create in (episode) with donuts, marshmallows, Twizzlers, pancakes.

ACTIVITIES

Homemade poptarts

In addition to a good swim in the pool, we interspersed the event with fun games, including GG trivia and CC bingo (you placed an M&M on your card for each quote that came up as the show played in the background.)

All around a fun and relaxing fete that Lorelai and Rory would have approved…and Emily would not! So bring on the junk food, fast talking, and poodles already!

Wishing you fond memories,

Enjoy!
